Senators Select Jonathan Dahlen 42nd Overall

Jonathan Dahlen is the newest Ottawa Senator after being selected by the team in the second round.

The Ottawa Senators began Day 2 at the NHL Draft by selecting Swedish forward Jonathan Dahlen.

Dahlen, a native of Östersund, is son of former New York Ranger and NHLer of over 950 games Ulf Dahlen.

Dahlen - the younger one, that is - is described as an offensively gifted, capable two-way forward with decent skating ability. He's played with the Timrå IK hockey organization the past two seasons in the second-highest league in Sweden.

The 18-year-old has had good showings at international tournaments, racking up five points in as many games in 2015 at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament and three points in four games at the U-19 championships this season.

Oh, and looks like he and Erik Karlsson already have a connection.

Welcome to Ottawa, Jonathan.
