Senators Trade Mike Reilly to Boston Bruins for 3rd Round Pick
The Sens shipped out the pending UFA
The Ottawa Senators have traded Mike Reilly to the Boston Bruins for the B’s 2022 3rd round pick. The team announced the trade late Sunday night:
Trade alert: The #Sens have acquired a 2022 third-round draft pick from @NHLBruins in exchange for defenceman Mike Reilly.

Alerte transaction : Les #Sens ont acquis un choix de troisième ronde en 2022 des Bruins de Boston en retour du défenseur Mike Reilly.
Reilly was in the midst of his best season in the NHL, with 19 points in 40 games and was playing 18:36 a night. Though they had struggled a bit in recent weeks, his pairing with Artem Zub gave the Sens a reliable second pair for the first time in years. At the time of the trade, Reilly was second among the team’s defensemen in CF% and first in xGF%. Reilly was also a pending UFA and there didn’t appear to be much progress towards a new contract. In light of that fact, and the Sens’ need to find ice-time for some of their young defensemen, this trade shouldn’t come as too big of a surprise. Pierre Dorion paid a 5th round pick to acquire Reilly from the Habs last year, and will receive a 3rd pick for trading him out; a tidy bit of business all in. Meanwhile, the Sens’ search for their second pairing of the future will begin a new.
