Senators trade Nick Foligno to Columbus for Marc Methot
The Ottawa Senators have continued to rework their defensive corps for the upcoming season by trading forward Nick Foligno to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for defenseman Marc Methot.
Foligno set a career high with 47 points last year, but had struggled with inconsistency throughout his career with the team. Despite looking good on the second line with center Kyle Turris and deity Daniel Alfredsson, Foligno also saw significant time on the fourth line. He was expected to face a challenge for the spot by forward Jakob Silfverberg, who had an outstanding season in the SEL, leading his team to the championship as captain and taking home both the regular season and playoffs MVP awards.
Methot is a large defensive defenseman, and should start the season as Erik Karlsson's new partner.
