Sens Comeback Attempt Falls Just Short Against the Jets
Another sicko themed game
The Sens were coming off an exciting win against the Montreal Canadiens and were looking to continue rolling against the Winnipeg Jets in a surprise re-scheduling.
The Winnipeg Jets, however, made sure to prepare the fans for the long night ahead of them in quick fashion. Two minutes into the game, it seemed the entire Sens team was protecting the goal but Pierre-Luc Dubois still managed to find the net and make it 1-0.
As the period went on, the Sens seemed to be back to the their old days of not being very good. Still, they were mostly holding the Winnipeg Jets off the scoreboard. With three power play opportunities, Ottawa could only manage to run up the shot count and frustrate themselves even more with their, yes you guessed it, blind passes and terrible zone entries. The Sens entered the first intermission down 1-0.
The second period featured a lot of action, and really where the game was lost for Ottawa. Less than five minutes into the frame, Adam Lowry made it 2-0 Jets. For a moment, however, there was a flicker of hope when Ryan Dzingel made it 2-1 mere seconds later.

Unfortunately, the Dzingel goal seemed to have inspired the Jets more than anyone else. Winniped took over the rest of the period from that moment. Sens looked lost and disoriented the majority of the second as the Jets piled on.
The highlight of the period weren’t the 3 goals scored by the Winnipeg Jets but the fact that Brady Tkachuk was losing his temper and getting himself into too much trouble. To be fair, the refs weren’t helping him either. I mean Tkachuk got penalized here.

And of course, the Jets scored on that power play after Josh Brown was clearly being held (more like hugged) with no penalty called. Tkachuk continued his undisciplined night and made sure everyone on the Jets bench and all the refs in the game knew he was upset.
The period ended with a score of 4-1 with the Jets leading the shots 36 to 14; yes you read that correctly.
Often this year the third period is where the Sens have shone, and they’ve mounted improbable comebacks from almost anything. Well halfway through the third, it didn’t seem like they were coming back from much. Then Logan Stanley gifted the Sens with a much needed power play. Usually, I wouldn’t say a Sens power play is a “gift” but Josh Norris lasered a shot that might have had you re-assessing your beliefs about the Sens power play.
I mean it’s 4-2 with almost 10 minutes left, we can still hope, right? YUP!
As timing was staring to tick down, we witnessed Connor Brown scoring in his fourth straight game (!) to make it 4-3.

While we’ve learned better than to give up hope on the Sens, the sudden jolt in the third was really fun and unexpected to watch unfold. Alas, the Sens couldn’t complete the comeback and dropped this one 4-3 to the Winnipeg Jets. At least it messes with the Leafs?
