Sens draft Viktor Lodin with 94th Pick
The 20 year-old is a surprise selection
The Ottawa Senators continued their unconventional approach to the 2019 draft with the selection of Viktor Lodin 94th overall. Lodin just turned 20 on June 2nd, and posted 5 points in 41 games for Öreboro in the Swedish Elite League. The 6’2 forward is listed as a Centre/Left winger on Elite Prospects.
If you can’t find much by the way of additional information about Lodin, it’s because there’s not not much to find. Our own Colin Cudmore compiled a list of draft eligible players as ranked by sixty different sources, and:
I consolidated the rankings of 60 different scouting sources.

Viktor Lodin wasn't ranked on any of them.
It’s hard to know what to make of this pick besides the fact that he seems to have been completely off the radar for virtually everyone else. Sens scout Anders Östberg was formerly at Öreboro so that may be the connection. You may also recall that the recently signed Nick Ebert played with Öreboro.
It wouldn’t be unfair to call this a reach, and it’s at best a peculiar pick. There’s a good chance this selection will either make Dorion and his scouts look very smart, or very dumb.
