The inaugural edition takes you back to the Hamburglar run!
Welcome to Sens Re-Watch! In this new segment, we’ll go back in time to watch a classic Ottawa Senators game together. After the game, we’ll post a full recap as if it were happening in real time! Special thanks to former Staff Writer Adnan, the one who did the original preview and saved me a lot of painstaking research!
With three games remaining in the 2014-2015 regular season, the Ottawa Senators will need a victory tonight over the Pittsburgh Penguins, in order to continue their storybook run and keep their season alive. The Sens desperately need a win, with Detroit and Boston looking to knock them out of a hunt at the first opportunity. A loss would all but eliminate them from contention.
No changes tonight for Ottawa. Andrew Hammond looks to continue his Disney movie of a season, and expect the Senators’ lines and pairings to look something like this:
Hoffman - Zibanejad - Ryan
Condra - Pageau - Lazar
Smith - Legwand - Chiasson
Methot - Karlsson
Wiercoch - Ceci
Borowiecki - Gryba
Hammond (starter)
Anderson
Game Notes:
- Mark Stone hasn’t gone more than two games without a goal since December. Just insane stuff from the rookie.
- Despite getting Evgeni Malkin back, the Penguins are missing three of their top four defencemen in Kris Letang, Christian Erhoff, and Olli Maatta. If there was ever a golden opportunity for Ottawa, it’s tonight.
- The Sens have grabbed points in eight of their last ten contests. The Penguins, meanwhile, have won only three of their last ten. Need to keep the momentum rolling tonight.
- Erik Karlsson scored his 21st goal of the season on Sunday, breaking his own franchise record for goals in a single season by a defenceman./
