Sens to Face Habs in First Round
In a reprise of the highly entertaining first round meeting between Ottawa and Montreal in 2013, the Senators are set to face rival Montreal for the second time in three years.
After a solid, if slightly nervous, 3-1 victory in Philadelphia this afternoon, the Sens (and fans) could relax, having secured what was once an unlikely playoff birth. The win put the Senators briefly in third place but a Detroit victory knocked the Senators back down to the 7th place and the first wild card seed. A Montreal OT win over Toronto meant that the Senators would once again be playing the Canadiens in the first round.
We'll have more coverage in the coming days and will update this post as soon as the schedule for the first round becomes available.
Update: The first game will be on Wednesday.
Senators/Canadiens opens Wednesday, as does Flames/Canucks. Jets/Ducks begins Thursday. Rest released on our special show tomorrow at 430 ET
