Silver Nuggets: Emery returns, but Volchenkov won't for at least another week
Big game tonight, with the Senators visiting Ray Emery and the Philadelphia Flyers. Here's the news of the day:
- Looks like the lineup's the same as last game: Shean Donovan and Jesse Winchester are the scratches, Pascal Leclaire starts in net. (Twitter)
- Unfortunately, that means that Anton Volchenkov is not ready to return from his injury and solve all of our penalty-killing problems in the process. Could still be another couple of weeks, in fact. (Sun)
- No one's got any faith in the gameday predictions, with all seven panellists picking the Flyers to win. That's a bit sad, but I'm one of those panellists, so... (Citizen)
- Apparently, the Senators players hold nothing against Emery after the guy left town on bad terms. We couldn't figure that out based on the fact he was the best man at the team's top centre (Jason Spezza) this past summer? (CP)
- Looks like Jonathan Cheechoo hopes he's well off the schnei after scoring his first goal of the season last game. So do a few tens of thousands of Senators fans. (Official website)
- Head coach Cory Clouston will coach his 50th game behind an NHL bench tonight, and his record so far isn't half bad: 27-16-6, for a .612 point-winning percentage. (Citizen)
(Couple more after the jump... )
- The Binghamton Senators beat the Norfolk Admirals 5-3 on Tuesday, with goals coming from Martin St. Pierre, Kaspars Daugavins, Ryan Keller, and two from Zack Smith. Denis Hamel and Craig Schira each had a couple of assists, and goaltender Andy Chiodo stopped 27 of 30 shots on the night. (AHL)
- Looks like goaltending prospect Robin Lehner is about ready to return to the Soo Greyhounds' lineup after missing about a week with H1N1.(Sault Star)
