Silver Nuggets: Struggling Senators struggle with injuries, Lee clears waivers
Here's a bit of a mixed bag of Ottawa Senators headlines after I've been away for a while:
- Daniel Alfredsson, Milan Michalek, and Alex Kovalev all missed practice on Tuesday due to various injuries. (Sun)
- UPDATE: Congratulations to Bobby Butler, named the AHL's Rookie of the Month for November. (AHL)
If Brian Lee clears waivers, he'll be sent to the Binghamton Senators. (Press & Sun Bulletin)- UPDATE: Brian Lee has cleared waivers, and is not being sent to the AHL at this time while Bryan Murray tries to work out a trade. Good luck with that. (TSN)
- Bruce Garrioch thinks that Lee's waiving could be clearing the way for Bobby Butler to join the NHL squad. (Sun)
- Jeremy Milks says the Lee era ends with a whimper... except that it's not over, because Lee still has another year after this one on his contract. (Black Aces)|
- Dany Heatley doesn't care about the rumours which abound surrounding his departure from Ottawa. Neither do I, really, but I'm looking forward to hearing him get booed tomorrow. (Puck Daddy)
- Ken Campbell thinks Heatley should get his boos, and then we should all move on. Maybe... (Metro)
- There's speculation out there that Chris Campoli may be on the trading block, and The Cannon looks into the possibility (with a cameo by myself). (The Cannon)
- UPDATE: Bobby Butler is named the AHL Rookie of the Month for November. Hilariously, it may have come just before he'll get his first real stint in the NHL. (AHL.com)
- Well this is a surprise: Former Binghamton Senators star Greg Mauldin is finally getting his first real shot in the NHL, and is making the best of it: 3G, 4A in 9GP this season, including four points on Saturday night. (Puck Daddy)
- A few people are getting sick of Eugene Melnyk's continued insistence that his team is on the cusp of greatness. I like his optimism, but I have to wonder what he's thinking sometimes... (SENS Town, The 6th Sens)
