Silver Seven Prediction Panel and Contest
Test out your prognostication ability this season for fun and prizes!
This season, Silver Seven will be posting game-day prediction panels, where some of our staff will be testing their prediction method of choice on a game by game season.
But today is not a game day, so why am I bringing this up?
To let you know about the accompanying reader contest, of course!
How to play along
Look for the prediction panel posts, and make your prediction in the comments section! You need to include winning team, final score (no need to say regulation, OT or SO - just give the score) and the name of the game winning goal scorer. If the game goes to the shootout, we will consider the game winning goal scorer to be whoever scores the shootout-winning goal.
Predictions need to be posted before the scheduled start time for the game to be valid, based on the time stamp of the comment. Remember, that's scheduled start time, not when the game actually starts! The cut-off will be strict, no exceptions, so try to not cut it close.
Prizes
There will be one prize awarded of (up to) $25 CDN worth of Sens gear of the winner's choice from the Sens Store or the NHL shop. This prize will go to the eligible person with the highest point total for the full season.
There will be three prizes awarded of (up to) $15 CDN worth of Sens gear of the winner's choice from the Sens Store or the NHL shop. One prize will go to the eligible person with the highest point total in the first half of the season. One prize will go to the eligible person with the highest point total in the second half of the season. The final prize will be awarded by random draw - every game predicted, correct or not, is one entry in to the draw.
Scoring
Predict the correct winning team - 1 point
Predict the correct final score - 1 point (getting it backwards doesn't count - sorry!)
Predict the correct game winning goal scorer - 1 point
Tiebreaker
Ties will be broken in the following order:
- Full season points (half season prizes only)
- Number of correct winning teams
- Number of correct final scores
- "Sudden death" round extending in to the playoffs.
Eligibility
To participate you just need to be a commenter in good standing on Silver Seven, but to win a prize you also have to be 13 years of age or older and a resident of Canada or the continental US.
There is a limit of one prize per person. They will be awarded in the order of full season winner, first half winner, second half winner and draw winner.
If any winner is ineligible for any reason, the prize will go to the next runner up.
Note
This is completely separate from the prediction game Ary ran in last Friday's Silver Nuggets. Entries in that do not count towards this contest!
