Sterling Predictions: Trades

Bryan Murray traded Jason Spezza in July 2014, and then waited until June 2015 to make his next trade. Who do you think will be the first Senator traded this year? (No trades is an option)

Trevor: I do wonder if Murray will make any last moves as GM until he retires. I'll say that Jared Cowen is moved in January for a draft pick after he shows no progress.

Ary: Zack Smith to a team in the West.

Peter: This off-season's mild banter has me wondering if the Senators are ready to pull the plug on Jared Cowen, but I don't think they'll be able to make that deal happen during the season--if he plays well enough to have trade value, then maybe the Senators will convince themselves that he deserves another chance or two. So I'll say 'no trade,' at least for now.

Richard: The team is going to destroy my soul and trade Wiercioch and some prospects like Puempel or White for some "help up front" that won’t actually be that helpful.
Ross: The team will try all the usual routes: trading Cowen for the moon, trading Greening for a bag of pucks, asking Neil and Phillips if they want to go and each will hum and haw until it's too late. In the end, I don't see this team making a trade before the trade deadline.

Callum: There will be no trades until the summer this year. I don’t think the Senators, or Bryan Murray for that matter, feel like they need to make any changes to this roster. That could change if things aren’t going as planned a few months in.

Michaela: The players who Murray wants to move are evidently unmovable (Greening, Neil etc.). So I don't see a trade happening before the deadline this year. Unless things continue to go south with Jared Cowen, in which case we may see him moved for a bag of pucks or something.

Ian: I don't think we will see any trades this season. With Neil and Phillips being the only two pending UFA's, I don't see them being valuable rental pieces that other teams would be looking for.

B_T: No trades. Not that Murray won't try, but I don't see any deals happening during the season.

Adnan: Chris Neil because Chris Phillips will have disappeared never to be seen again.
