The Sens have just two goals with the man advantage in 22 opportunities in the last nine games, including no powerplay goals in their last four games.

Over the season to date, Ottawa has scored on 16.8 per cent of powerplays, 19th in the league in that measure. The league-leading Vancouver Canucks score as a 22.3 per cent clip, while the Montreal Canadiens are the NHL's worst with a percentage of just 12.2.

It's no coincidence that Ottawa's powerplay is struggling as the team's biggest scorers are ice cold. Erik Karlsson's the teams leading PP scorer (1G, 19A) and he has one point in four games. Jason Spezza's next (6G, 10A), and he hasn't had a point in six straight. Sergei Gonchar's the 'hottest' of the team's powerplay leaders (1G, 10A) with two assists in his last six games. And rounding out the top four is Milan Michalek (7G, 2A), and he has just one point in seven games.

The Senators will need to start scoring if they're going to start winning again. Powerplay are above-average opportunities to score. Ottawa's offensive leaders need to wake up, lest this team's plummet in the standings continue.
