The Young Talent in the Senators Organization
Two different websites have posted stories about the young pool of talent in the Senators organization, and each is well worth the read.
The first is courtesy of TSN.ca, which looks at the top 12 prospects within the Sens' system. Topping their list is recently Erik Karlsson, and it's hard to argue with that. There's a lot of good analysis in their write-up, including looks at some of our lesser talked about prospects, including Derek Grant, Eric Gryba, Kaspars Daugavins, and Tomas Kudelka
Also interesting is the look in that article at the Senators drafting success. According to their statistics, Ottawa has had a 47.8% success rate of drafting in the first three rounds. In the bottom six rounds, that figure drops to 26.1%. Perhaps the most interesting (albeit depressing) stat: not one player drafted in 2002 by the Ottawa Senators has developed into an NHLer.
The second article is courtesy of Hockey's Future. The article is a nice look at those players who played their rookie seasons with Ottawa this year, such as Brian Lee, Jesse Winchester, and Brian Elliott. There's not much else to say about the article than that, as most of the information disclosed is what we saw all season long from the players. Regardless, it's worth checking out.
