Three More Cut from Ottawa Senators Roster
Lajoie, Blunden and Reinhart have all been assigned to Belleville
The Ottawa Senators have reduced their roster by three more today, as Max Lajoie, Mike Blunden and Max Reinhart have all been assigned to Belleville. The latter two have to clear waivers first, although it’s unlikely that either get claimed.
Lajoie on the other hand is a more interesting decision, as because of his age he’s eligible to play in either the CHL or AHL. Instead of sending him back to the Swift Current Broncos for his fourth season of junior hockey, Lajoie will instead turn pro and use the first year of his entry-level contract.
Lajoie showed great poise in yesterday’s pre-season contest against the Montreal Canadiens, finishing with an assist while playing a team-leading 24:12. He plays defence on the left side, which could pose some problems for Belleville as their depth at that position is already plentiful. Thomas Chabot, Andreas Englund, Ben Harpur, Patrick Sieloff and Jordan Murray are all under contract for the upcoming season, and all five shoot left.
Max Reinhart also played a significant role in last night’s game, as him and Blunden should serve as bottom-six players for Belleville this season.
