Some news and other tidbits from around the league to tide you over until the Sens are back in action tonight:
- It is more than a dream come true to get drafted to the team you grow up idolizing, and it’s even better when it was your father who was the hero of that team. That was the case for Josh Doan, son of Shane Doan, when he was drafted to the Arizona Coyotes back in 2021. Fast forward to 2024, and Josh is finally breaking into the league, and he made sure to do it in style. Doan had two goals in a 6-2 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets much to the delight of his Dad and entire family in a perfectly scripted start to his NHL career.
- The Washington Capitals will be without Ethan Bear as the NHL and NHLPA released a joint statement announcing the defenseman will be entering the Players' Assistance Program.
- Paul Masnick, the oldest surviving member of a Montreal Canadiens' 1953 championship passed away this week at the age of 92 years.
- The conversation around CTE has once again emerged with the death of former NHLer Chris Simon last week. This week, the family of Bob Murdoch has announced that he suffered from Stage 3 CTE. Murdoch passed away last summer at the age of 73 and these findings were made by researchers at the Boston University CTE Center.
- The Jaromir Jagr bobbleheads have been rescued! After many speculations and fun drama, the Pittsburgh Penguins announced on Monday that the missing truck has been recovered and that fans will be getting their memorabilia.
