Thursday LNN: Another Crosby Milestone, Fedotov's Debut and More
Thursday's Edition of the Links, News and Notes
- The Pittsburgh Penguins may be having a terrible season but their Captain is still maintaining his elite status. This week, Crosby tied Wayne Gretzky as the only player to achieve point per game for 19 seasons.
- Ivan Fedotov has had quite the journey to his first NHL game. After getting drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in 2015, the goalie has faced many serious struggles including being detained in his home country Russia and being forced to fulfill his military duty. Now, after 9 years he has finally made his debut for the Flyers as the tallest goalie in the league.
- Elliot Lake, Ontario, is the lucky recipient of the Kraft Hockeyville adventure. Elliot Lake will receive $250,000 for arena upgrades, will host an NHL pre-season game, and receive $10,000 worth of youth hockey equipment from the NHLPA Goals & Dreams fund.
- After a terrible injury in January, Blue Jackets forward Adam Fantilli was hoping he would see the ice again this season. However, the team announced this week that his 8-week recovery projection is going slower than expected and it is more likely that Fantilli will be out for the season.
- The New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils were looking to bring back the intensity of their rivalry. Eight players were ejected from last night's game. The best part of it all is that it happened during a brawl in the opening faceoff. What a start to the game!
