Thursday LNN: Trouble in Vancouver, Downtown Arena and More
Thursday's Edition of the Links, News and Notes
- The Vancouver Canucks started their series on a good note and with high hopes. These hopes were quickly dimmed as they first lost goalie Thatcher Demko and then Game 2. With Demko expected to miss at least a few games if not the whole series, Canucks fans are on the edge and it's not from the excitement of what's to come.
- Once again, the Sens arena is a hot topic. It seems an influx of location suggestions has come through that has caught the attention of Sens President Cyril Leeder. While nothing has been clarified on timing, Leeder came out this week confirming that LeBreton Flats is the only location being seriously considered by the Ottawa Senators for a new location.
- The Arizona Coyotes are swiftly transitioning to their new home in Salt Lake City. After what seemed like a sudden relocation, players are now being ushered into their new home and they have officially been introduced to the fanbase. A crowd of 12,400 fans welcomed team members at an orientation event where players and fans got a chance to get connected.
- Speaking of the new team in town, they are yet to be named and all we know is that they will go by Utah not Salt Lake City. However, a list of 8 names has been released for discussion including the name Utah Yetis. It will be interesting to see what route they take and whether they end up choosing a name from that list.
- The San Jose Sharks finished the season in last place and broke several lows that the league hasn't seen in a while. While the team is going through a rebuild, the last two years have been extremely painful for the team so naturally a coaching change was bound to happen to try and turn the ship around. After two seasons with the Sharks, the club announced this week that head coach David Quinn is relieved from his duties.
- The LA Kings stunned the Edmonton Oilers with an OT win last night to even up the series at 1-1.
- The Toronto Maple Leafs whined their way to a Game 3 loss with the Bruins now leading the series 2-1 and Brad Marchand pissing everyone associated with the city of Toronto and the Maple Leafs organization.
- The Vegas Gold Knights won, as usual. They now lead the Dallas Stars 2-0.
