Thursday LNN: A Scary Injury, Ottawa Charge Update and More
Thursday's Edition of the Links, News and Notes
- Dylan Holloway gave everyone a scare after taking a puck to the neck on Tuesday when the St Louis Blues faced the Tampa Bay Lightning. After spending the night in hospital, Holloway is feeling good and ready to re-join the team.
- It's time to get excited for another PWHL season which is set to start November 30th. The Ottawa Charge will are slated to play a game at Canadian Tire Centre against the Montreal Victoire on December 6th in what we're all hoping will be sellout crowd.
- Speaking of the PWHL, the branding of the teams is almost complete as the league announced new jerseys for each team today.
- The US-Canada rivalry tournament is back and it didn't start off the way Canada had hoped. The US was dominant in the first game beating Canada 7-2. The next game will be played in Salt Lake City on Friday where Team Canada hopes to turn things around.
- Some power rankings this week to look over, it is no surprise that the Winnipeg Jets are ranked at number 1 as they continue to have a great start to the season. Also not surprising, the Ottawa Senators have dropped from 14 to 19 and it's mainly due to their road record hurting their overall consistency. Also, November.
- It may seem slow but the NHL and hockey is growing and becoming a bit more diverse. This week, Toronto Maple Leafs' ECHL affiliate, the Cincinnati Cyclones, hired former Team Colombia goalie, Rudy Hodgson, as their new play-by-play voice and public relations coordinator.
- There were a lot of big names joining new teams this summer. Courtney Jacobsen from Sportsnet looks at how all the new acquisitions, including Linus Ullmark, are faring with their new teams.
