Thursday LNN: Injuries, Waiver, Fines and More
Thursday's Edition of the Links, News and Notes
- NHL injuries are part of the game and inevitable for any team but getting hit by a car is not usually on the list of common injuries listed by teams. Montreal Canadiens' rookie Emil Heineman will be out of the lineup 3-4 weeks after being hit as a pedestrian in Salt Lake City.
- The Pittsburgh Penguins are among the many teams fighting for those few final playoff spots. As they head on a crticial road trip, the team has placed struggling goalie Tristan Jarry on waivers. It seems that if he is not picked up on waivers, he would finish off the season in the AHL.
- Speaking of the Penguins, Evgeni Malkin's house was robbed over the weekend. Not many details are available as the matter is still under investigation but it is being reported that his 3 Stanley Cup rings were among the items stolen.
- Connor McDavid continues to cement his legacy in Edmonton. With a three-point performance against the Minnesota Wild, McDavid climbed to second place on the franchise’s all-time points list, surpassing the legendary Jari Kurri. Now, the only name left ahead of him is Wayne Gretzky.
- Utah Club's Jack McBain was fined the maximum allowed amount for his high-stick on Canadiens' Brendan Gallagher.
- Taylor Hall was once considered one of the best prospects in the league and even won the Hart Trophy with the Devils in 2018, but it seems the forward has struggled to find his place in the NHL the last couple years. With the trade deadline approaching, the Blackhawks' forward doesn't seem to expect an extension making him one of the top names in trade rumours.
