Thursday LNN: A Shank Extension, Edmonton's Weather Advantage and More
Thursday's Edition of the Links, New and Notes
- The Ottawa Senators have extended forward Angus Crookshank to a one-year 2-way contract.
- Daniel Alfredsson was gladly welcomed back to the coaching bench ensemble. As for when we could see him pursue a head coach position? The Ottawa legend says he is not considering that position until 3-4 years from now. The recently minted "Doctor" who received his honorary degree from the University of Ottawa this week would like to exercise patience when it comes to learning the ropes of coaching.
- Patrick Laine has had a rough few seasons in the league. In January of this season, he enrolled in the Players' Assistance Program as he healed from injury. This week, it was announced that the Blue Jackets and Laine have reached a mutual agreement to look into a trade for the gifted forward.
- The Edmonton Oilers are looking for any advantage over the Panthers as they head into Game 3 and they might have gotten a break, from mother nature. The Panthers' charter was delayed 3 hours by weather conditions and since they had not traveled ahead of time, this only gave them 22 hours to adjust before game time.
- On the other side, the Edmonton Oilers may have to play without Evander Kane who has been playing through an injury and may no longer be able to sustain the ice time.
- The Ontario Hockey League has a new commissioner in town. The OHL have announced the hiring of former footballer and Gold executive Bryan Crawford as their new leader.
