- Jakob Chychrun seems to have found his calling in Washington. After struggling to find his place in Arizona and Ottawa, the young defenseman has decided to sign with the Capitals for 8 years. The team announced this week that Chychrun signed an extension worth $72 million taking him off the free agency market this summer.
- Mark Scheifele is testing out his business talents with an investment that is very close to his heart. He is partnering with his former billet family to bring the Penticton Vees hockey team into the WHL.
- The NHL is partnering with Palo Alto Networks to bring the utmost cybersecurity to the league. The multi-year agreement will see Palo Alto take care of internal browsers, AI, and security for all NHL networks.
- If you're interested in the Ovechkin record-breaking watch, he is now 6 goals away from passing Gretzky's record after scoring the tying goal against the Winnipeg Jets.
- Speaking of the Winnipeg Jets, they are now the second team to clinch a playoff spot and the first in the West to do so.
- While the Sens remain in part of the Super-16 ranking, they dropped a few spots this week with the biggest concern going into the final playoff push is the inconsistencies and injuries to their goaltenders.
- The Edmonton Oilers are bringing in some German company for their superstar. Reports are surfacing that they have signed a young and extremely talented player out of Germany. 23-year-old Josh Samanski is expected to join the Oilers next season after exercising his NHL exit clause from his current contract in Berlin.
- John Tortorella has been fired as coach of the Flyers after his team will miss the playoffs again. Torts doesn't quite seem to have grown with the NHL, and is a far cry from the Cup-winning coach of 22 years ago.
