It's the last week of the off-season before we'll have real Ottawa Senators-adjacent hockey to discuss. We are sooo close.

Looking around the rest of the hockey world while we bide our time:

  • The birth of the PWHL brought with it a lot of excitement, but as impressive as their inaugural season was, they were still missing some important elements team names and logos. After a few months of suggestions and rumours, the PWHL finally unveiled the names and logos of their 6 teams. The new Ottawa Charge name and logo were met with a somewhat tepid response but you can learn the full story behind the process here.
  • The Sens released their roster for this weekend's Prospect Challenge:

Of all the names on this list, Tyler Boucher has by far the most to prove. A healthy season for the 2021 first round pick is an absolute must.

Ottawa will be facing the New Jersey Devils on Friday at 3:30 pm, the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday at noon, and close vs. the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday at 1:30 pm. All the games will be streamed on the team's website. If you happen to have Friday's game on in the background, we promise we won't tell your boss.

  • While Jamie Benn has often been the focus of most hockey conversations, his brother Jordie has also had a good share of NHL experience. Now, after 12 seasons and over 600 games, Jordie Benn has announced his retirement. His last NHL tenure was with the Toronto Maple Leafs and he retired with a total of 137 regular season points. He ended his career in Sweden where he played for Brynas IF last season.
  • Adam Larsson seems to be thriving with the Seattle Kraken since being claimed from Edmonton in the expansion draft. The 31-year-old defenseman has embraced the change of scenery, and this week, the team announced they've reached an agreement on a four-year contract with an average annual value of $5.25 million.
  • Is your beer league team missing a goalie? Not a problem if Roberto Luongo is nearby. The retired NHLer and Hall of Famer stepped in for a squad in need after spotting the team's urgent Facebook ad seeking a goalie.
