Thursday LNN: Kyle Turris Back to Work, Crosby's Birthday and More
Thursday's Edition of the Links, News and Notes
- Kyle Turris was and remains to be a favourite in the Ottawa Senators community. A large part of why he was always well-liked was because of how hard-working he was. Taking on two roles, Turris will be busy in the next while as he joins the management team of Team Canada's U-17 group as well as as take on the role of hockey director at the North Shore Winter Club in Vancouver.
- Sidney Crosby turned 37 years old yesterday. As he starts getting closer to retirement, people are now wondering; how many more records can he break and when will the Penguins sign him to an extension?
- Leon Draisaitl has been eligible to sign an extension with the Oilers since July 1st, so why hasn't it be done yet? It's fair to say after a heartbreak in the Cup final, Draisaitl may need some time but should Oilers fans start worrying? It seems everyone involved is feeling optimistic so it'll be interesting to see how this plays out.
- Philipp Grubauer is spending his summer doing something special. The "German Cowboy" has started a project called "SAFE" aimed at helping mistreated horses. A very worthwhile project that you don't often hear about.
- In a move where many people are questioning, Dillon Dubé and Michael McLeod have signed with the KHL. It seems odd that they would be allowed to travel and work somewhere while being charged with a serious crime. According to London lawyer Nick Cake, it seems the courts only limit the travel of those charged if they are deemed a flight risk.
