Thursday LNN: A Familiar Matchup, Business is Booming and More
Thursday's Edition of the Links, News and Notes
- The Boston Bruins have the chance to do the funniest and most satisfying thing ever. While it takes a lot to make me cheer for the Bruins, a first round playoff matchup against the Toronto Maple Leafs will do it. Better yet, the Sens had the privilege of helping set up that matchup so I'd like us to take credit for another Leafs demise.
- The pandemic had an impact on all businesses including the NHL. Missed season, no fans and canceled games left the league feeling the heat. Things are looking up as arenas are filling up again and viewership is hitting record numbers.
- The NHL has announced the 32 nominees for the King Clancy award and it's no surprise that Ottawa's pick is Brady Tkachuk. Along with his wife Emma, the Captain has been very involved in the community.
- It seems the Montreal Canadiens are liking what they're seeing from coach Martin St. Louis. The rookie coach has just finished his second full season and while it was another disappointing result, not many people can really blame him here. On Wednesday, the team announced that they will be extending St. Louis for another 3 years.
- Don Granato however, was not as lucky as St. Louis. The Buffalo Sabres announced this week that Granato alongside assistant coach Jason Christie and video coordinator Matt Smith have been relieved from their duties.
- The NHL's breakup with Arizona is showing some very harsh signs of moving on too quickly. Pierre LeBrun is reporting that the NHL is hoping to get the relocation to Salt Lake City completed prior to the start of the playoffs.
- Speaking of the playoffs, without the stress of the Sens competing (a very usual feeling at this point), who wants to join the SilverSeven crew for a friendly prediction matchup? The one and only Ross has created an exclusive group like no other, follow the link here to join. Password to enter is: silver7sens.
