Thursday LNN: Pre-Deadline Action, New Signings and More

- The trade deadline may still be a day away but that doesn't mean teams won't start the drama earlier. Seth Jones started the trail of early trades but there was more that came this week. The Pittsburgh Penguins were busy as they sent Michael Bunting and a fourth round pick to the Nashville Predators in return for Luke Schenn and Tommy Novak. They also sent Vincent Desharnais to the San Jose Sharks for a draft pick.
- After a brief rumour that the Ottawa Senators were interested in acquiring Yanni Gourde, the Seattle Kraken announced that they have traded Gourde along with Oliver Bjorkstrand to the Tampa Bay Lightning for 2 first round picks, 1 second round pick and Michael Eyssimont.
- As teams are looking for outside help, the Montreal Canadiens took care of their own. The team announced this week that they have agreed with Jake Evans on a four-year deal worth $11.4 million.
- Gary Bettman is now among those expressing significant concern over the recent U.S. tariffs. With Canadian teams generating 25% of the league's revenue, Bettman emphasized that any fluctuations in the Canadian dollar could have a substantial impact, particularly when it comes to payroll, as all players are compensated in U.S. dollars.
- Many fans feared serious injuries to their players at the 4-Nations Cup. Luckily, there haven't been many. Matthew Tkachuk seems to be the only long-term injury as the Florida Panthers announced that he will be out for the regular season with hopes of him returning in the playoffs.
- Jack Hughes has undergone successful shoulder injury and will be out for the remainder of the season, including the playoffs. The team expects him to make a full recovery and be ready for training camp.
