The Senators have signed (en Français) Tobias Lindberg to a three year entry-level contract.
He had a pretty good year with the Oshawa Generals, his first year playing in North America. During the regular season he posted 78 points (32G and 46A), good for 20th in the OHL, and an 8th overall 19 points during the OHL playoffs. During the Memorial Cup tournament he led the team in both goals and points, and assisted on the goal that won Oshawa the title.
We recently discussed Lindberg making the leap to the AHL next year. Jeff had this to say:
If things follow the past like fellow prospect Curtis Lazar making the leap to Ottawa after winning the Memorial Cup the previous season for the Edmonton Oil Kings of the WHL, this could turn into fruition that would be good news for Binghamton fans.
Guess we'll have to wait in see but the anticipation is real. One thing for certain is the offence that will have a new beginning with the possible addition of Lindberg as he could be aligned on the right side of either Ryan Dzingel or perhaps Max McCormick with a team otherwise loaded with left wingers.
With nothing more to prove after winning the Cup for the Generals, Lindberg should be in the starting line-up for the Binghamton Senators come this October.
Make sure you check out the full post here, it's well worth reading.
Lindberg is the final piece of the deal that sent Ben Bishop to Tampa Bay, selected 102nd overall with the fourth round pick that came back to Ottawa alongside Cory Conacher.
We will update this post with any additional contract details that become available.
