Training Camp Check-in and Preseason Game #8 Hub: Sens vs Habs
Looking to close out the preseason with a 7-1 record!
It's been a strong preseason so far for the Ottawa Senators: six wins against just one loss. A couple of prospects have stood out, and there has been less to complain about with regards to the team's defensive structure. Coincidentally, someone other than Cam Talbot or Matt Murray has played in each of the team's seven games.
Of course, that isn't to say the preseason has been without concerns. Shane Pinto is still unsigned, and Josh Norris won't be ready to play at the start of the season. That's a big blow to the team's centre depth that will negatively impact their chance of a playoff spot this year. However, considering last year's Sens would've likely been a playoff team with adequate goaltending, I haven't given up hope just yet.
On another note, the Habs are garbage. Here are the lines the Sens are hoping will emerge injury free tonight:

Game Notes:
- A few players have been called up from Belleville in order to give the bulk of the regulars a rest before the start of the regular season. Both goalies will also rest, with Mads Søgaard starting. I'd expect them almost everyone to be sent back down to Belleville afterward, along with the final cuts. Though I'm personally excited to see Prospect Tournament standout Tarun Fizer play tonight.
- The remaining forwards competing for spots are Parker Kelly, Zack MacEwen, Ridly Greig, Roby Jarventie, Bokondji Imama, Jiri Smejkal, Josh Bailey, and Rourke Chartier – the latter of whom isn't playing tonight, and thus might have already locked up a spot. The final battle for an NHL job is going to be interesting to watch play out.
- Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 PM EST, and the game will be available on RDS, TSN5, and TSN1200.
- Here are some clips from today's media availability:
"I got to see that I can play with those guys. Just keep working hard every day, if it's in Belleville try to get better there and try to earn a call up later in the year."

"More importantly is the level at which I've seen some guys play. Thomas Chabot on the right side and Chychy look like they're are a go. Some of the things we wanted to see through camp we've gotten to see."

"I have Kuby here. He's helping me a lot, he's telling me about his first year because he came from Europe as well. Same situation for me so he's helping me a lot, with him it's much easier.

"I came here with one intention, it's making the team. If I go back to Belleville I'll be back and just grind my way up again. I'm working hard and this camp was a good test for me, I think I've done pretty good."
