Updates: Trent Mann is out, Kevin Mandolese re-signed
A couple of important news updates concerning the Sens
Per Bruce Garrioch, the Sens have parted ways with Assistant GM Trent Mann. Though the timing is a little surprising, the move itself is not considering his brother Troy Mann was fired as the Belleville coach back in February. Reportedly, Trent had not been consulted on that move, and was likely shocked by it and may have banned from the CTC after it. Trent had been with the Sens for 13 years.
This comes right after the President of Business Operations, Anthony LeBlanc, resigned from his position. These both seem to be part of preparing for Michael Andlauer to start putting his people into place. According to Garrioch, the frontrunner for the President role is Cyril Leeder, who held the role from the club's inception until his falling out with Eugene Melnyk in 2017.
In more positive news, the Sens have signed goaltender Kevin Mandolese to a one-year, two-way contract, worth $110k in the AHL and $775k in the NHL. Mandolese, the 157th-overall pick in 2018, went 6-8-3 in 17 AHL games, 5-1-0 in 7 ECHL games, and 1-2-0 in 3 NHL games last year. Presumably, this confirms that Leevi Meriläinen will be the odd-man out in Belleville, going to the ECHL, but we'll see what happens as the season progresses (and as goalies get injured).
