Ups and Downs: Week 20

Dzingel's first NHL goal has him up, while Hoffman's dry spell has him down

The Senators won all their games this week! Two of them were via the shootout, but two points are two points. It's the kind of week the Sens need if they're gonna push to the playoffs again.

Biggest gains: Ryan Dzingel

His speed has done wonders, and this week some quick hands got him his first NHL goal. No way he gets sent back down after the last couple weeks.

Biggest losses: Mike Hoffman

He's been Ottawa's most consistent forward this season, but these last couple weeks he's dried up. It can't help that Turris is injured, but the Sens can't be expected to win with Hoffman quiet long-term. Here's hoping he figures it out before he gets last season's treatment and is shuffled down the lineup.

Goaltenders Trend Notes
Craig Anderson Big week for Andy, allowing five goals on 102 shots for a .951 save pct. He also stopped all five shootout attempts he faced this week.
Andrew Hammond Didn't play this week
Defensemen

Mark Borowiecki Played one game this week, and the Sens looked a fair amount better without him
Cody Ceci Beat up on the Sabres possession-wise, but then so did the whole team
Erik Karlsson Only two points this week, not counting the goal and assist he had for the Red Wings
Marc Methot Had an OK week
Dion Phaneuf
Phaneuf-Ceci are a possession black hole, but at least he scored a goal!
Chris Phillips Hi Chris!
Chris Wideman
Wiercioch-Wideman made a great third pairing. Too bad this team needs Borocop
Patrick Wiercioch Wiercioch-Wideman made a great third pairing. Too bad this team needs Borocop
Forwards

Alex Chiasson He scored a goal this week. Hopefully it makes him tradeable!
Ryan Dzingel
See Biggest Gains
David Dziurzynski
Haven't heard anything on his progress
Mike Hoffman See Biggest Losses
Curtis Lazar Perfectly average week for the young Lazar
Clarke MacArthur Keep healing up!
Chris Neil He got an assist against the Canes!
Jean-Gabriel Pageau Two more assists continue his streak of being Cameron's most-trusted centre
Nick Paul
Got his first career NHL point
Shane Prince
After I thought his spot in the lineup was solidified, he was a healthy scratch all week
Bobby Ryan Not a great week for the $7-million man
Zack Smith Two more goals for the best season of Z Smith's life
Mark Stone Pretty good week for him, despite only scoring one goal
Kyle Turris Just nowhere near his old self. At least he went 2/2 in the shootout
Mika Zibanejad It's not good when neither of the top-six centres are looking good
