Ups and Downs: Week 22

It's up, up, up and away!

7 points in 4 games should mean a lot of green - but last week set a high bar.

Biggest gains: Mark Stone

How do you choose this week? Just so many options.

Stone notched four points this week, and was one of the few players to have legs against the Jets. After a rough few games in California, it was a big bounce-back week for the rookie.

Biggest losses: Mark Borowiecki

A tougher decision that biggest gains, with so little red and everybody at least having some moments of good play. In the end Borowiecki just seemed like the least effective player on the ice this week, and a big drop from last week. Owes his goaltenders for his positive +/- this week. When he was on the ice, odds are the puck was in Ottawa's end. Did have a nice goal against Calgary, though.

Goaltenders Trend Notes
Craig Anderson False start in Winnipeg on his return, finally played against Calgary - and was hung out to dry in the third
Andrew Hammond Didn't have back-to-back shutouts like last week, but still played great. Got all of the fans at Friday's game a free burger, and free food is always worth an up arrow.
Robin Lehner No timelines for Lehner's return yet

Defensemen

Mark Borowiecki See "Biggest losses"
Cody Ceci Three solid games and one of the better players against Winnipeg
Jared Cowen Caught the flu while suspended last week and didn't play this week
Eric Gryba Like his partner, It was not a very good week for Gryba
Erik Karlsson A down, down, down game in Winnipeg, but was generally dominant the rest of the week
Marc Methot There's a reason Karlsson has surged, and it's a solid defensive partner
Chris Phillips He's like Polkaroo - you just have to have faith he exists
Patrick Wiercioch I'm really liking his pairing with Ceci
