Ups and Downs: Week 8
Hoffman's up, and nobody's really down this week.
The Senators had a pretty good week, beating the Stars and Avalanche before losing to the Coyotes.
Biggest gains: Mike Hoffman
Four goals and an assist made this an easy choice. He has the prettiest release on the team, and he put it to good work. I'd like to see him work the point on the top powerplay unit for a bit.
Biggest losses: Alex Chiasson
I was really stuck here, because once again, I didn't give a single down arrow. Maybe I'm too generous. Anyway, Chiasson gets it for not being memorable for several weeks in a row.
Goaltenders | Trend | Notes |
Craig Anderson | Overall, he had a pretty good week. I think he could use a backup that the coach trusts to take some of the burden.
Andrew Hammond | Definitely hoping he's back soon.
Chris Driedger | Didn't get off the bench this week
Defensemen | ||
Mark Borowiecki | My expectations for Borocop are admittedly pretty low, and he mostly met them for the week.
Cody Ceci | He's been OK. | |
Jared Cowen | Actually had a pretty good week, especially by the standard set by his play earlier in the season.
Erik Karlsson | When he's on his game, he is dominant. I'd say he had enough dominant play this week to earn an up arrow.
Marc Methot | His usual, reliable self.
Chris Phillips | Hi Chris!
Chris Wideman | After having some pretty great first games for the team, he's come back to being average. Still, average is pretty good by the standards set by the Sens' defence this year.
Patrick Wiercioch | He's been taken off IR, and I'm hoping that means he finds his way back into the lineup soon.
Forwards | ||
Alex Chiasson | I really don't know what to say about Chiasson anymore.
Mike Hoffman | See Biggest Gains.
Curtis Lazar | I don't think his promotion to the top six was at all deserved, but he hasn't been bad.
Clarke MacArthur | Still still out.
Milan Michalek | A goal, two dumb penalties at poor times, and some good possession stats. I give Milo a neutral.
Chris Neil | The fourth line has actually been really good the past couple weeks. They all get ups from me.
Jean-Gabriel Pageau | Got up to three shorthanded goals on the season, tying him with five teams at fifth in the NHL.
Shane Prince | Finally got his first NHL goal. Candidate for Biggest Gains, but he really only had one great game.
Bobby Ryan | He's definitely benefiting from being on the top line, putting up two more assists this week.
Zack Smith | Two points, and the fourth line has been dynamite lately.
Mark Stone | Apparently he was on a slump last week, but he put up five points in three games this week.
Kyle Turris | I considered giving him a neutral for "only" being a point-per-game this week. That seems unfair.
Mika Zibanejad | He's been OK. I think his numbers have been hampered by having Lazar on his wing. |
