Vegas Reportedly Select Methot in Expansion Draft
TSN’s Pierre LeBrun has reported that the Vegas Golden Knights have plucked Marc Methot from the Senators in the expansion draft.
One of the Senators’ many beloved hometown players is a Golden Knight. For now.
TSN’s Pierre LeBrun is reporting that Vegas has selected Senators defenseman Marc Methot in the expansion draft.
Hearing that VGK have selected Marc Methot in the expansion draft... whether or not he gets flipped over the next few days...

Pierre Dorion attempted to work out a deal that kept Methot in the nation’s capital, but Golden Knights general manager George McPhee’s price turned out to be too high.
It isn’t a given that Methot is desert-bound, though. It’s been rumoured that Vegas is going to take a plethora of defensemen and, in turn, flip them for prospects and picks. The 32-year-old, actually celebrating his birthday today, is one of the players on Vegas’ trade bait list.
But it's my understanding flip deals involving external 3rd team - say VGK trading Methot or Emelin - are likely to wait until freeze lifts.

Methot’s departure leaves many questions to be answered with regards to Ottawa’s defense corps next season.
Who will pair up with Erik Karlsson? Will the Senators venture into free agency to find another top pairing defender? Is Thomas Chabot going to be awarded a full-time roster spot come October? Will Dorion still look to move a defenseman like Cody Ceci or Dion Phaneuf? Do the Senators have a good enough blue line if they stand pact?
Methot’s career with his hometown team ends at 304 regular season games, 34 playoff appearances, a handful of fantastic moments and a whole lot of jaw-dropping hip checks.
Always a sound player in his own end, a hell of a talker in the locker room and, plain and simple, an all-around great guy, he will be dearly missed by fans, fellow players and many media members looking for a tasty quote.
